Youth Home “Zuvedra”
The youth home project “Zuvedra” is specifically for teenagers, who have been raised in orphanages/foster homes and/or teens living in poor households. Priority, however, is given to the teen orphans in foster/orphanage establishements.
In 2009, it housed youth from the counties of Druskininkai, Lazdynai, and Kaisiadoriai.
The project’s main focus is to help teens to gain a profession and to integrate into the society as a whole, providing them with living space in a dormitory and the opportunity to study in the craft and trade school in Druskininkai.
Here they can gain skills in carpentry, auto-mechanics, food preparation, professional sewing, tourism and hotel administration. In 2009, the school became a public institution.
In the 2009 -2010 school-year the “Zuvedra” youth home had 18 youths in residence (7 girls, 11 boys). From this group of 18, five individuals are in their first year of studies and 3 are in their second year of studies for carpentry; 4 first year and 5 second year courses in food preparation; and 1 individual is in his second year of hotel administration studies.
