“Augink Atsakingai” (“Raise Responsibly”)- A social initative for parents

In May 2008, “Gelbekit vaikus”, together with the telecommunication company “Omnitel”, started a new long term social initiative for parents called “Raise Responsibly” which has to this present day successfully teaching and working with parents to decrease the incidence of domestic violence in families. Furthermore, “Gelbekit Vaikus” has initiated a law that prohibits any kind of physical or degrading punishment against children.

 

International Project- “Draugyste be sienu” Friends Across Borders”)

In 2008, “Gelbekit Vaikus”   and “Swedbank” has created a program, "Friends Across Borders”, which is functioning in Sweden, and the three Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The effort of this project is to minimize the incidence of violence and bullying in schools. Efforts to prevent bullying in schools include lending support to bullying victims, publicizing this problem and using innovative methods to eliminate situations that cause bullying.

 

Youth Groups against Violence

Starting in 1996, “Gelbekit Vaikus” has actively implemented a program called “Vaiku grupes pries smurta”, meaning “Youth groups against violence” , whose sole purpose is to create a safer environment in schools and to make sure every child is protected against violence. This project, which is creates a violence-free system in Lithuanian schools, unites with the government’s complex school violence prevention and control programs. This is done by establishing children’s groups specifically against violence in which the main initiators and participants are youth themselves.

 

Public Action- “Violence Against Children-No!”

Starting in 2003 and annually every May, Gelbekit Vaikus along with the Lithuanian Republic Ministry of Social Security and Labour raises public awareness events and public promotion centered on the prevention of child neglect and violence. In 2008, the topic was “Noriu buti saugus seimoje” (“I want to be safe within my family”)—focusing on the family values that ensure the psychological, physical, and spiritual wellness of each child.

 

„Saugi aplinka – saugus vaikas“

In 2008, VO “Gelbekit vaikus” and UAB “Statoil Lietuva” started an educational initiative “Saugi aplinka – saugus vaikas“ (translated: A Safe Environment= A Safe Child), focused on educating parents and children about street and automobile safety and minimizing the incidence of accidents as a result. To ensure the success of this project, it was initiated in two ways: educating children about safety; and persuading appropriate driving methods for parents/adults, while also influencing their habit to buckle in their children/young passengers using a seat belt when in the car.

Methodological Childrens Day Center “Give Me Your Hand”

In 2008, “Gelbekit Vaikus” methodological day center “Give Me Your Hand” granted social, educational and psychological aid services to troubled girls, their families and performed various methodological activities.

 

The Girls Program

From 2002, “Gelbekit Vaikus” has been implementing their Girl’s program . The goal of the program is to provide girls from risky environments in cities, towns and villages to re-intergrate into society by teaching and developing various appropriate social skills and provide basic assistance and support.

 

“The Possibility to Live Better” part of the “Fullfillment Action” initiative.

In 2008, “Gelbekit Vaikus” along with TV3 and SEB Bank started the “The Possibility to Live Better” project. For the past six years, the “Fullfillment Action” initiative project was focused on older children, who grew up in foster care and were ready to transition from the foster home to a self sustaining existence.

 

“Creation of favorable family workplaces and valuable employment opportuntities in the country through social partnerships”

From the Fall of 2009, the mobile telecommunications company “Omnitel”, “Gelbekit Vaikus” and the Univeristy of Sauliai have implemented the European Union financed project “ Creation of favorable family workplaces and….”

Within the next three years it is planned to provide Lithuanian families with a valuable two direction initiative:

1. To better the quality of life for socially vulnerable families.
2. To create a favorable workplace for families.
