Starting in 1996, “Gelbekit Vaikus” has actively implemented a program called “Vaiku grupes pries smurta”, meaning “Youth groups against violence”, whose sole purpose is to create a safer environment in schools and to make sure every child is protected against violence. This project, which is creates a violence-free system in Lithuanian schools, unites with the government’s complex school violence prevention and control programs. This is done by establishing children’s groups specifically against violence in which the main initiators and participants are youth themselves.
